Fall Tournaments 2019

Bella Vista Wrestling Spring Schedule:

Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays after school and tournaments are on Saturdays. We are going to these tournaments to get mat time, which is one of the best ways we can get better in wrestling. Practices are more about teaching and less intense than they are during the high school season. There will be a Bella Vista high school coach at most tournaments, and there will be many wrestlers from our entire program at these tournaments. There is no Varsity or JV at the weekly practices; everybody is invited to come in and get better.

Practices

· Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30 – 4:45 pm

· March 23rd – May 6th

· If there’s no school there’s no practice that day (3/22 and Spring Break)

SAWA Tournaments

· Register online for all tournaments via a link from: SAWAwrestling.com

· If you do not have a USA Wrestling Card do not worry. I am allowed to buy everybody’s USA Wrestling Card in a single purchase this year. I will do that before the first SAWA tournament.

· Weigh-ins are done at practice ahead of time, so you do not need to show up to the tournament until your scheduled age group/wrestling style is set to compete. They will never start your style before the time listed below.

· Wrestling Start Times (Approximately)

o 9 am – Peewee, Bantam, Intermediate, FREESTYLE, FOLKSTYLE

o 9 am – All Greco (except open)

o 10 am – Novice, Schoolboy, Cadet, Junior, and Girls Freestyle

o 11 am – Novice, Schoolboy Folkstyle

o 12 pm – Cadet, Junior, and Girls Folkstyle

o 12 pm – All Open

· Registration:

o Regular tournaments: $15 Freestyle, $10 Greco, $10 Folkstyle

o Club Championships: $20 Freestyle, $10 Greco, $10 Folkstyle

o SAWA Championships: $30 Freestyle, $15 Greco, $15 Folkstyle

§ Everyone who registers for freestyle at the SAWA Championships gets a free t-shirt (from SAWA)

· In addition to wrestling at the tournaments, I highly encourage our kids to sign up to be a referee. This helps them see and understand the sport, and after the first tournament, they will get paid cash at the end of the day for their services. If they are there, they might as well get some cash.

Schedule:

· 3/21/20 – Bear River High School

· 3/28/20 – Nevada Union High School

· 4/04/20 – Pioneer High School

· 4/11/20 – Vista Del Lago High School (Club Championships)

· 4/18/20 – Sierra College

· 4/25/20 – Casa Roble High School

· 5/02/19 – Natomas High School (SAWA Championships)

I highly encourage our wrestlers to get some mat time in at these tournaments.  They are local, and everybody is there to simply get experience, and to start getting into shape before the season hits. The brackets are pooled to try and get each person as many matches as possible.

**Must have a current USA Wrestling Card to compete, you can purchase a card online at www.themat.com.  Each tournament is $15 (more if designated a championships). You register online for each tournament, there are no weigh-ins, it's an honor system when you register you just give them your actual weight. To register, go to www.sawawrestling.com then scroll down the page to the tournament you want to attend and click on "pre-register". This must be done BEFORE 8pm on Saturday night each week.
