You Want To Be A Champion Wrestler?**This is updated for the spring/summer 2010** **Read all of this, there's important stuff at the bottom of this page as well** Off Season Championship Program Starting Now! (Spring) 1) Go to the Extreme Team practice Monday & Thursdays 6:00-8:00pm at Carnegie. 2) Wrestle the Freestyle Tournaments on the weekends. The schedule is on this site under "Events". Summer Wrestling Practice Options: 1) Starting July 5th and running through the rest of the summer, the BV Wrestling Team will practice at Bella Vista on Mondays and Thursdays. JV wrestlers will practice from 4:30 - 6:00pm, with the varsity wrestlers to go from 6:00 - 8:00pm. The designation of jv and varsity does not mean you will be jv or varsity for the upcoming season. The difference in practices are that you must learn some basic "Bella Vista" techniques, before you can learn the more advanced techniques. You will be moved up or down in practice times depending on your level of skills - the faster you pick-up the technique, the sooner you move up and onto advanced technique. Coach Mark Tucker will be running these workouts. If you have any questions about this, please call him at 208-3186. 2) Folsom HS has an open room where many schools go to practice and wrestle against competition from all over Sacramento. It is a practice, not a competition, but a great chance to go "live" against new people - which helps you get better faster! Folsom practice Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm - 7:30pm starting March 8th and running through the whole summer. **I would suggest that you go to the BV workouts Mondays and Thursdays, then try out your technique on wrestlers from around the area at Folsom on Tuesdays. Do this all spring and summer and you'll be very tough to beat next season. This is simply the only way to WIN tournaments, instead of just wrestling in them. Summer Camps: 1) Ponderosa Camp. This is a technique and duals summer camp June 28 - 30 at Ponderosa HS. Coach Lee has paid for the team to go, so this camp is free to the first 20 wrestlers who commit to going. 2) Oklahoma State Team Wrestling Camp July 18 - 22 in Reno, Nevada. You can go to "Events", "Summer Wrestling Camps" on this site and find the link to this wrestling camp for information. The camp costs: $345 for residents (food & lodging included), or $250 for commuter (you stay at hotel or relatives and buy own food). Coach Lee will pay for alot of your camp fees if you meet the criteria listed below under "incentives". There are many other camps that you can attend as well. Information on these camps can be found on this site under "Events", "Summer Wrestling Camps". Click here for information on the camp and to register your wrestler: http://osuwrestlingcamps.com 3) Oklahoma State Technique Camp - July 11 - 15th. Any BV wrestler who wants to attend this technique camp the week before our team camp, the Bronco Wrestling Club will pay for $100 of the $365 bill if you'd like to really go for it and make the investment in your wrestling. This $100 donation towards your bill is offered to any BV wrestler, or Carnegie wrestler (if enrolled at BV for the upcoming fall). Once again - you pay up front, we'll reinburse you if you attend. Fall Wrestling Options 1) Xtreme team practices each Monday and Thursday from 6 - 8:00pm 2) Fall Tournaments: Schedule - TBA Now for the incentives: **Oklahoma State Team Camp incentives only. 1) Starting with the Monday, March 8th workout, you will earn $5 of credit for every workout you attend. 2) For each tournament you wrestle in during the off season, you will earn $15 of credit. It's like wrestling the tournaments for free. Besides earning this money towards your OSU Team Camp fees: ** Earn $200 towards your camp = free workout shorts and T-shirt. These shorts and shirt will only go out to wrestlers who meet this requirement. They can't be bought and won't be given out any other time. ** Earn $300 towards your camp = Get a "Champions Club" patch for your letterman's jacket (along with the workout clothes). **You have from March 8th through November 1st to earn your rewards; and remember that there are no workouts in June, so keep track that you can attend enough stuff to earn your credits. **You pay for the camp up front, Coach Lee will reinburse you if you attend** The Biggest Incentive: Do these things each week from now until next season... 1) Have everyone take notice of how good you've gotten 2) Be the guy they talk about on wrestling website chat rooms 3) Be on the awards stand each week 4) Name in "The Sacramento Bee" 5) Wrestle in the "Big Tournaments" - Masters, State, High School Nationals **Be careful, not looking to improve could cost you a starting spot on the team!!!< /> |
